Maya R.

Voice, Acting, Performance Skills, Musical Theatre

I am a professional singer, actor, and performer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Since graduation, I have worked consistently at renowned regional theatres playing a variety of roles from Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors to Sibella in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. I believe in versatility when it comes to developing any singing voice. A trained singer should be able to sing any type of music with ease whether it's an opera aria or Adele's new gut-wrenching ballad! With the right technique, anything is possible! It is my goal to help my students achieve whatever sound they wish for in the healthiest way possible, and most importantly have FUN while they do it! Versatility is also super important for any budding actor. For my acting students, I would love to work on the gamut of genres from comedy to Shakespeare to drama... whatever their heart desires! The first step for any actor is letting go of inhibitions, anxieties, or any negative self-awareness. We'll start there and focus on the joy of the art of pretending. It is called a 'play' after all!
